Kari Nergaard Bleivik is a vocalist, composer and lyricist born in Trondheim, Norway. She has a BA and MMus in Jazz from Leeds Conservatoire and a PGCertPAE from Royal Northern College of Music.
As a vocalist, Kari has toured extensively over the last 20 years and performed at many major venues and festivals both in the UK and internationally. She has released several albums with different bands and projects on labels in the UK, Norway and Australia. In 2012 she received the award ‘Vocalist of the Year’ by Jazz Yorkshire.
She has also written commission music for several festivals, and delivered vocal workshops at institutions such as Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, The Nordic Institute for Stage and Studio (NISS) in Oslo and Harare College of Music in Zimbabwe.
In 2018 the music video released by her group Royst Trio won the Best Music Video Category at the Independent Talents International Film Festival, featuring her composition ‘The Quiet Beauty’: https://vimeo.com/287783947
