We will be accepting applications to live at Joseph Stones House from 05 April 2018. An accommodation application guide and form will be available here nearer the time.

How to apply for accommodation

From April:

1. Download and complete the application form (available here nearer the time)

2. Either post or email the form to:

The Accommodation Team
Room 401
Leeds College of Music

3. You will receive a letter from the conservatoire with your room number and weekly rent cost. Unite Students will be informed.

4. Unite Students will contact you with details of how you and your guarantor can complete your booking online and they will request a deposit of £250.

5. After the tenancy agreement is signed, Unite Students will be responsible for your accommodation and any enquiries should be directed to them. Please do not send your deposit payment to the conservatoire.

What happens after August Results day?

If you meet your required grades:

  • Unite Students will contact you about moving in dates and key collection.

If you don’t meet your required grades:

  • Inform us by email at no later than 23 August 2018 so your room can be re-allocated, otherwise you could be liable for the whole years’ rent.
  • An administration fee of £50 will be deducted from your deposit before it is returned to you.
What if my application for accommodation is unsuccessful?

If you apply for a room and Joseph Stones House is full, we will keep a small waiting list in case of vacancies at the last minute, but you will also be supplied with a list of alternatives.

Usually there are no more than a few withdrawals, so most people will be better applying to other places if they haven’t got a room.

When can I move in?

The starting date of your tenancy will be confirmed on your tenancy document. You can move in any time after this date. If you have chosen to pay in one or eight instalments (as opposed to three) you must ensure Unite Students have received payment before you can be given your keys.

How to cancel accommodation

The Tenancy Agreement you will sign is a legally binding document and you will be contractually obliged to pay the rent for the full tenancy period. Under normal circumstances, you will not be released from your contractual obligations even if you leave your course of study and move away from Leeds.

Once you have signed the Tenancy Agreement, the only acceptable reason for withdrawal will be if you have a conditional offer and don’t get the grades you require to commence your course of study. If this is the case, you must inform us by email at before 23 August 2018 so your room can be reallocated. Failure to inform us by this date may result in you being liable for the full year’s rent. Should serious personal reasons prevent you from taking up your place of study, please contact us for advice.

We strongly advise you do not apply to live in Joseph Stones House if you have any doubt that Leeds College of Music is your preferred choice, or you think you may not get the required grades. Please carefully read the terms of the Unite Students Cancellation Policy.
