How to apply for accommodation

From April 2020

  1. Complete an online application form, available here nearer the time. Please allow approximately 4 weeks for your form to be processed.
  2. Applicants will receive a letter by post from the conservatoire with your room number and weekly rent cost. Unite Students will be informed. If there are no rooms available, you will be informed and advised to look at alternative accommodation.
  3. Unite Students will contact you with details of how you and your guarantor can complete your booking online and they will request an Advance Rent Payment of £250.
  4. After the tenancy agreement is signed, Unite Students will be responsible for your accommodation and any enquiries should be directed to them. Please do not send any payments to the conservatoire.

What Happens After August Results Day?

If you meet your required grades
Unite Students will contact you about moving in dates and key collection.

If you don’t meet your required grades
Inform us by email at accommodation@lcm.ac.uk no later than 22 August 2019 20 August 2020 so your room can be re-allocated, otherwise you could be liable for the whole years’ rent.
Your Advance Rent Payment will be returned to you in full.

What if my application for accommodation is unsuccessful?

If you apply for a room and Joseph Stones House is full, we will keep a small waiting list in case of vacancies at the last minute, but you will also be supplied with a list of alternatives.

Usually there are no more than a few withdrawals, so most people will be better applying to other places if they haven’t got a room.

When can I move in?

The starting date of your tenancy will be confirmed on your tenancy document. You can move in any time after this date.

If you have chosen to pay in one or eight instalments (as opposed to three) you must ensure Unite Students have received payment before you can be given your keys.

How to cancel accommodation?

Contact the accommodation team as soon as you can, and before the end of August – accommodation@lcm.ac.uk / 0113 222 3411

Please note.
If you fail to make the grades you require and need to withdraw, you will have to pay an administration charge of £50.

Should you choose not to come to Leeds College of Music and the reason is neither a serious personal issue nor failure to get your grades, then you may be tied in to paying your tenancy for the full year if your room cannot be re allocated.

Should serious personal reasons prevent you from taking up your place, your case will be considered on an individual basis.

Please read carefully the terms of the Unite Students Cancellation Policy.
