Health and Wellbeing

How we can help

The Health and Wellbeing team provide a range of free and confidential services to help with practical, emotional, or mental health-related issues that are affecting your life at the conservatoire.

Health and Wellbeing Support

One-to-one Health and Wellbeing support is available to all students once they have enrolled.

Depending on your needs, we will offer you:

  • Wellbeing advice: Practical and personal support with any aspect of student life, from healthy eating to homesickness.
  • Mental health support: Tailored support for long-standing mental health difficulties.
  • Short-term counselling: Confidential, emotional support to explore difficult situations or feelings.
  • Occupational therapy (OT): Hands-on support to let you live your best life at home, university, and everywhere else. OT helps you to overcome challenges completing everyday tasks or activities, or ‘occupations’.

We may also offer group workshops or signpost to additional internal or external support.

Group workshops

Alongside one-to-one support, we hold regular wellbeing workshops. These cover a range of topics, from organisation and planning, to self-compassion and anxiety management. Workshops are lead by members of the team and take place in small, supportive groups.

The Neurodivergent Network

We run a bi-weekly group for students who identify as Neurodiverse. This includes: Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Autism, ADHD, ADD, Tourette's, Dyscalculia, and Sensory Processing Disorders. Whether you want to get involved, chat or sit quietly, this group is a space for you to just be.

Performers' Wellbeing

We oversee the Performers' Wellbeing programme, which offers students free physiotherapy appointments, hearing checks, Alexander Technique lessons, and yoga classes. For more information, click here.

Students who have previously accessed support are welcome to re-refer at any time during their studies.

To access support, students need to complete a short online referral form. This can be found on our intranet once students have enrolled.
