Complete with course talks and lesson demonstrations, our open days allow you to meet our teaching staff and speak directly with our alumni and current students about the courses you’re interested in most. 


9:30am – 3:00pm Campus and Accommodation Tours
Explore the facilities available to our students at our Quarry Hill campus and find out more about your accommodation options in the local area. 

10:30am - 11:30am Welcome Talk
Director of Curriculum, Professor Joe Wilson, provides a brief overview of our course structure and the opportunities available to you on and off campus. Karen Joyce, Head of Student Services, will also give a brief overview of how to apply, fees, funding & accommodation. 

11:30am - 12:30pm Course Talks & Demonstrations for Jazz, Classical, Folk and Production
Learn more about specific courses and take part in lesson demonstrations. 

1:15pm - 2:15pm Course Talks & Demonstrations for Popular Music, Songwriting, Film Music and Business
Learn more about specific courses and take part in lesson demonstrations. 

Please note that we will be running drop-in sessions throughout the day, so you will be able to talk to academic staff about courses if you’re unable to attend the session. Our admissions and student services advisers will also be available to answer any questions you have.

On a map of Britain, Leeds is at the centre: 300 kilometres from London and almost the same distance from Edinburgh, standing midway between Hull in the east and Liverpool in the west. 

Leeds has excellent links to the rest of the UK via the M1 and the A1. An hourly train service reaches London in two hours.

Travelling By Car

Enter the postcode LS9 8AH into your Satellite Navigation. 

Leeds is located at the crossroads of the M62 and the M1, and just a few kilometres from the A1. 

When entering the city, follow the brown road signs for ‘West Yorkshire Playhouse’ at Quarry Hill, just off the A64 York Road in the centre of Leeds – or you can follow the City Centre Loop signs. 

Major attractions, including the West Yorkshire Playhouse, are identified on the Loop signs. The Conservatoire is at Loop Junction 12.

Car Parking

We do not have any on-campus car parking space. The nearest car parks are the Pay and Display at Quarry Hill and the NCP multi-storey car park on Harper Street near Leeds Kirkgate Market. 

Open Day attendees can pick up discount vouchers for the NCP car park on the day from our Reception Team. We have agreed a reduced rate of £8 for 24 hours especially for these events.

Leeds College of Music is a 15 - 20 minute walk from Leeds Train Station.

Leeds College of Music is two minutes’ walk from Leeds Central Coach Station. 

National Express and Megabus both run coach services to Leeds from locations across the UK.

Leeds Bradford

Leeds Bradford International Airport is roughly eight miles from Leeds city centre. 

The airport bus 757 stops at Leeds Central Bus Station, which is a 2-minute walk from Leeds College of Music.

A direct train service links Manchester Airport to Leeds Train Station and takes 1 hour 20 minutes.

When will I receive confirmation of my place?

You will immediately receive an email confirmation from us after completing the booking form. If you don't receive an email, contact us at hello@lcm.ac.uk

You will also receive an email prior to the Open Day containing a timetable of events and useful information concerning discounted car parking, catering, how to find us and more.

Can you recommend any hotels in the local area?

Jurys Inn is a 10 minute walk from the conservatoire, have a look at their website for further information.

How far away is the centre of town?

Leeds College of Music is located in the heart of the city’s Quarry Hill Cultural Quarter. The centre of town is approximately a five-minute walk away.

Do I need to bring an instrument?


Do I need to book tours in advance?

No. Once you arrive at registration, student ambassadors will assist you in arranging a campus and accommodation tour.

Is there somewhere to eat and drink on site?

Yes – our Café Bar is open all day and serves a variety of great value food.

Will I be able to speak to tutors?

Yes – heads of faculty and tutors are on hand throughout the day to answer any questions you may have.
