Study Skills Support

Study Skills support can help you to develop your academic skills including advice and guidance on completing your written work.

How can you help me?

 

We can support you with a number of study related issues such as; research, planning and structuring your written work, we can also help with time management, note-taking and motivation building strategies.

The following study skills resources are available to students:

  • Weekly study skills workshops
  • Online study skills resources available for students to access from the VLE
  • Free diagnostic assessment for specific learning difficulties
  • One to one support sessions for DSA funded students

Study Skills workshops

Weekly study skills workshops are available for all students to use for support and advice on academic work.  These drop-in workshops are run by our Study Skills tutors who are available to give advice and support on completing your written work.  They can also help with issues such as time management, note-taking and motivation building strategies. The days and times for the Study Skills Workshops are widely advertised across the conservatoire and you do not need to make an appointment - just turn up!

Online study skills resources

Online study skills resources are available for students to access from the VLE. You will be able to find many useful study tools, tips and guides on organisation, time management, research, planning and writing.

Free diagnostic assessment

Diagnostic assessment for specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia is available at the conservatoire. You will need to undertake an initial screening and the outcome of this will determine if you are eligible for a free diagnostic assessment with an educational psychologist. Contact  disability@lcm.ac.uk for more information.

One to one support sessions

If you have applied for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) you might be entitled to one to one study skills support and/or mentoring from our in house team of specialists. You can find out more information about DSA from the Disability Support page or contact disability@lcm.ac.uk
