About the Summer School

Students will work in the conservatoire's industry standard recording studios developing their practical recording and production skills with the aim of producing music in collaboration with students from the performance strand.

This summer school provides an opportunity to meet and work with other like-minded people, with time built in during the evenings for social activities for residential students. Lunch will be provided for all students with additional breakfast and evening meal provision for those on the residential course.

Course pre-requisites

We recommend that students attending this Summer School pathway have a working knowledge of DAW software (E.g Logic Pro X and/or Pro-tools).

Summer Music Academy pathways

As well as this Music Production strand, there are two other available Summer Music Academy pathways to choose from in Performance and in Musical Theatre. All three strands will run on the same dates of Monday 3-Thursday 6  August 2020.

Bursaries

We want to ensure that no one turns down a place on the Summer Music Academy due to the cost. We have a bursary fund that supports students and their families dependent on their situation.

We have a fixed amount allocated for bursaries in our budget and we will look at each application on a case by case basis. We allocate partial bursaries wherever possible, totalling a percentage of the fee.

Bursary levels for 2020:

  • Household income under £16,190 (the level at which you receive free prescriptions and free school meals) = 90% bursary
  • Household income between £16,190 and £42,620 = partial bursary where possible
