What you will learn

Interactive workshops will include:

  • Gaining a deeper understanding of your pupils and how they learn
  • How to engage pupils in meaningful musical experiences through a multisensory approach
  • How to help them develop technical facility and interpretative skills in a range of styles, from baroque to contemporary
  • How to plan long and short term goals for progress, with a particular focus on the intermediate pupil
  • Simple, step-by-step ways to teach playing by ear and improvising, inspired by pupils’ pieces
  • How to prepare for stress-free, secure and musical performances 
  • How to deal with many professional difficulties -including those with parents

3.45PM      From Baroque to Modern – stylistic considerations, technique and practice (Part 2: Romantic, Impressionism, Jazz, Contemporary)

10AM          Sing then play
10.15AM    Working with intermediate pupils – teaching with a fresh perspective
11.30AM    Break
12PM          How to teach simple, step-by-step playing by ear and improvising using pupils’ pieces for inspiration
1.15PM       Lunch
2.15PM       Safe circle performance opportunity
3.30PM       Break
3.45PM       Final forum – further performance opportunities, questions and discussion arising from the weekend.
