hcmf//

hcmf// is one of the world’s most prestigious festivals, featuring cutting-edge instrumental, vocal, and electronic music alongside dance and musical theatre.

For many composers, having a piece premiered at hcmf// represents a career highlight. Therefore, this project represents a significant opportunity for young musicians to develop their skills as performers and composers, to gain invaluable professional experience, and to boost their CVs.

Four workshops will take place in October and November on Saturday afternoons where participants will improvise, compose, collaborate, and create an entirely new work, supported by professional composers Ben Gaunt (bengaunt.com) and Karen Gourlay (karengourlay.co.uk), alongside yet-to-be-announced experts in new music. These workshops will be creative and engaging experiences, exploring composition methods in a fun, accessible way, developing composition, improvisation, aural and theory skills in the process.

The final concert will take place during Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival on Sunday 26 November 2017.
