Course overview

You will learn a range of desktop publishing skills using Adobe InDesign from basic layout and composition, to understanding signposting and the skills and techniques of using typography; looking at colour, grids and guides, issues of legibility and readability and printing processes. It is important to ensure visual communication and purpose is defined in your designs, to engage and interest your audience and this course enables you to gain an understanding of these issues. This will result in a self defined project to demonstrate the skills you have learnt such as a magazine cover, flyers, CV etc.

What you will learn

After every tutorial session there will be an outcome that demonstrates the skills you have learnt. This will be followed by an extended piece of work, which will be the result of the small self defined project. You will develop digital design skills as you progress through the course, a greater understanding of design and how to integrate the software to create and prepare images for print and online purposes.

Who is it for?

This course is for you if you are interested in  learning the basics of design and gaining a practical understanding of the packages designers and artists use to create their work.
