Lucinda Mackworth-Young is a pioneering consultant, lecturer and writer in psychology for musicians, dance for musicians and playing by ear and improvising. She is also an experienced concert pianist and teacher.

Well known for her entertaining and experiential lectures and workshops, which shed light on many of the problems encountered daily, and offer a wealth of practical tips, she inspires and refreshes music teaching, learning and performing with a person-centred and multi-sensory approach. 

Director of the dynamic Piano Teachers’ Course UK since 2008, Lucinda also runs courses under her association Music, Mind and Movement, and has provided course work for the leading professional development courses run by ABRSM and the ISM.

She writes extensively and has been published in Rhinegold, American Music Teacher, Faber, ISM, ABRSM, Trinity and EPTA publications. Her highly recommended and readable book TUNING IN: Practical Psychology for Musicians, published in 2001, is also now available as an e-book published by Informance, and her book, Piano by Ear, published by Faber Music and finalist in the 2016 Music Teacher Awards for Excellence, remains a top seller.
