Jason Huxtable (BMus(Hons), AdvPGDip, HonBC) is a busy performer and educator, active across a wide range of genres and performance situations. Educated at the Birmingham Conservatoire he graduated with first class honours, an advanced postgraduate diploma in professional performance, many of the Conservatoire's competition prizes and was also conferred honorary membership of the institution.

Known for his versatility, Jason has performed with a huge variety of ensembles and has appeared at many of the UK's premier festivals across pop/rock (Glastonbury Festival), jazz (Cheltenham Jazz, London Jazz Festival), world music (London Mela) and classical (BBC proms) styles. He has worked with leading established ensembles such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Shakespeare Company; combining this with a vibrant range of contemporary and creative artistic collaborations and concerto appearances. 2017-2018 performances include concerts at the Taiwan International Percussion Convention and a concerto performance with the LA Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.

Jason is a member of the Maraca2 percussion duo, an ensemble that has had significant impact on the development of the genre. Maraca2 have performed at percussion festivals and concert halls across the world including an evening concert appearance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2013. The have appeared at over fifty Universities world wide delivering masterclasses, clinics and performances, continuing to regularly commission and publish new works to develop the existing repertoire. Media appearances have been diverse from live broadcasts on the BBC to appearances on television in such far flung locations as Argentina, Serbia and Texas! Maraca2 are the directors of the World Percussion Group, an ensemble formed in 2016 to provide an international platform for the next generation of percussion talent. The World Percussion Group have appeared at over twenty Universities across the United States and Europe since inception. Maraca2 are proud to endorse Pearl Percussion, Remo drum skins, Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets, Sabian Cymbals and Marimba One marimbas.

As a keen educator, Jason has over 15 years of experience teaching in a wide range of schools, colleges, community projects, universities and conservatoires. In addition to his work at Leeds College of Music, he currently holds teaching posts at Leeds University and Birmingham Conservatoire where he also lectures in the areas of pedagogy and community engagement. Jason has been an examiner for the Rockschool examination board for the last eight years and adjudicates for a variety of competitions and higher education examination panels.
