We're super excited for our fourth showcase at Sound City festival - and we have another fantastic line up this year! Meet Hannah Willwood, a fantastic songwriter who will join our line up on Saturday 4 May...

How does it feel to be playing at Sound City?

It's wonderful to be able to play and share my music in a new place, amongst such a talented line up.

Give us a brief history of your music...

I grew up in North Wales around the beautiful mountains, where I first found the space to write what was in my head. There was a bubble of space after leaving school where I spent lots of time alone, easing into finding words and melodies that felt right.

Since then, I'm now based in Leeds and after playing my music solo for the past couple of years, I've found some lovely talented musicians to surround and complement the sound I've been trying to create.

How would you describe your sound?

A mix of indie, folk and jazz.

What can people expect from your Sound City set?

Some delicacy and a little groove. The set will be a mixture of both older and brand new songs. Also, as we haven't played many gigs as a full band yet, we're all super excited to share what we’re doing.

What are you most excited about playing at Sound City?

I'm really excited to share the stage with my Leeds College of Music friends on the Saturday. There is a lot of talent coming out of LCoM.

Every gig is different, that's the nature of playing music live. Hopefully we'll have some beautiful sunshine and flowing festival vibes over the weekend.

Who are you excited to see when you’re there?

I can't wait to see Stella Donnelly the most. I missed her set at Focus Wales last year and have been getting into her music, as well as her other Australian singer-songwriter pal, Julia Jacklin. I'm actually a little bit obsessed with Julia Jacklin.

How does it feel to see your name on a festival line up?

It feels a little surreal, but also obviously exciting and rewarding to know that I'm being given such great opportunities - and that people enjoy what I do!
