Leeds Conservatoire is delighted to announce its first ever Performing Arts scholarship, thanks to support from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.
The Foundation believes that in order to maintain vibrancy in the arts, it is critical that the next generation of diverse artists is nurtured and encouraged.
One Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to support a gifted student on the conservatoire’s three year BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme. The scholarship will cover full course fees for the duration of the course and be awarded on the combined basis of merit and financial need. Suitable candidates will be identified after enrolment and invited to apply for the scholarship.

Our Musical Theatre degree is designed to prepare performers for a sustainable career in the fast-paced Musical Theatre industry.
Through studio practice and professional training, students will develop as authentic, multi-faceted performing artists, undertaking high level acting, dance and singing training within the unique environment of a leading conservatoire, with state-of-the-art specialist facilities.
Taught in small groups for practical work and training, students will hone their skills as actors within Musical Theatre through tuition in singing, acting, movement/mime/physical theatre and voice. Dance training will involve classes in ballet, tap and jazz, inclusive of the varying jazz styles found in the modern industry. Third year Musical Theatre students will work towards full scale public performances, including an industry showcase where casting agents and industry insiders will be invited to watch students perform.
Working with practitioners from Leeds Playhouse and conservatoire staff, students will study alongside active professionals and expert Musical Theatre educators who train to the highest, industry standard.
Graduates will be fully prepared for a sustainable career in the Musical Theatre industry and beyond, with the skills and potential to work across various forms of theatre and screen work. In fact, our first cohort of Musical Theatre students are getting job offers and recalls before they even graduate! Our Musical Theatre course is professionally recognised, which will allow graduates to gain full Equity and Spotlight membership upon graduation.
