Music Production students to work with visiting professor Ian Caple

Ian Caple, the newly appointed visiting professor at Leeds College of Music, will be coming to the College on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 November to work with Music Production students.

Whilst in College, Ian will be talking to the students about his career path, the music industry and how it has changed in recent years. He will also be discussing what the industry now expects of upcoming production talent.

Ian will then conduct a series of small informal workshops based in the studio, demonstrating both theoretical and practical techniques. He will have some of his previous recording sessions with him and will demonstrate these at the desk to illustrate his working methods and plans to discuss live room floor techniques as well, therefore giving students the opportunity to engage with him on studio related issues.

Ian started his career in 1979 as a Sound Engineer, working at EMI, where he recorded amongst others, Kate Bush’s demos. He has since gone on to work with Tricky, mixing and producing his singles and albums, as well as Adam and the Ants, Mansun, and Yoko Ono on her last single with John Lennon. Ian now owns his own studio at his home in Sussex which has enabled him to continue working in production, providing a relaxed and professional atmosphere for recording artists.
