Big City Jazz features Leeds College of Music alumni

The Big City Jazz festival held at Leeds’ Millennium Square is back for its third year, bringing a fantastic line-up to suit all tastes. The festival will take place on Friday 21 August to Sunday 23 August.

Leeds College of Music jazz alumni Jamil Sheriff, Malcolm Strachan and Jim Corry are playing on the second day of the festival, which will celebrate 70 years of Blue Note Records.

Jamil Sheriff, renowned for his Octet, of which he released two albums with (Daydreams and Backchat) will be performing from 4.30pm - 5.30pm with his smaller ensemble, the Matinee Project, which features some of Jamil’s newest compositions.

Malcolm Strachan and Jim Corry, two of the UK’s greatest horn players and members of the Haggis Horns, will be performing later in the day at 9.45pm, alongside the ATA (All Things Analogue) Studio Pit Band to pay tribute to Blue Note greats including Lonnie Smith, Freddie Hubbard, Lou Donaldson and Grant Green. View further information about the festival and the other acts to perform here.
