Scott Hewitt

Senior Lecturer in Music Production

Scott Hewitt (BA (Hons), MMus) is Senior Lecturer (Specialist Study Music Production) on the BA Music Production programme.

Scott Hewitt (BA, MMus) performed through his formative years within brass bands and choirs while finding his way to music technology. Having worked within theatre Scott headed off to Huddersfield to complete a BA in Music Technology and later a MMus from Goldsmith College in Studio Composition. He is currently completing a PhD in Notation for Laptop Ensembles. He is the founder of the Huddersfield Experimental Laptop Orchestra and its post graduate sibling HELOpg and currently lectures at Huddersfield, Crewe and Leeds College of Music.

Additionally Scott is a co-founder of the Inclusive Improv, the convener of the Week of Speakers a presenter on theAudioPodcast,instigator of #CreativePact and co-founder of the The Leeds Computers in Performance Meeting Group.


Scott is interested in creative performance and improvisation with computers individually and within ensemble settings. He is additionally interested in the history of computer music performance, networks for improvisation and diffusion outside of the concert hall.
