ROLLER TRIO

MOBO-nominated band and Leeds College of Music alumni

“Leeds is a great place to meet people and get involved in all different areas of making music. I guess it was there that I learned to play different kinds of music with lots of different people, as well as having some great teachers. Right now we’re gigging round the country just trying to get our music to as many people and places as possible.”
Luke Wynter

The debut album from alumni band Roller Trio - James Mainwaring, tenor sax and electronics, Luke Wynter, guitar, and Luke Reddin-Williams, drums - was nominated for the 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize Best Jazz Act. The trio was also nominated for a 2012 MOBO Best Jazz Act and as Best Newcomers at the inaugural Jazz FM Awards.

In 2011 the Trio were recipients of the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award.
