Paul Statham

Senior Lecturer in Composition

Paul Statham is a lecturer in composition/songwriting on the Pop pathway.

Paul is a prolific songwriter who has cowritten songs with artists including Dido, Right Said Fred and Jim Kerr of Simple Minds. A new song written with Italian pop star Noemi – a judge on Italy's version of TV show The Voice – has been entered in the San Remo Song Festival, and will become Italy's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest if it wins.

He's currently working with 18-year old singer Devon Wright, who has just signed a major publishing deal with Paul's publisher Warner Chappell Music.

Paul also continues to work with reality TV star Peter Andre after making several appearances on his TV series My Life – where he's seen recording at Andre's home studio on a new album.

Paul's own project, The Dark Flowers, shortly releases its album Radioland in the USA,  featuring vocalists Jim Kerr (Simple Minds), Shelly Poole (formerly of Alisha’s Attic), Dot Allison (Massive Attack) and Peter Murphy (formerly of Bauhaus) amongst others. A new video for When Stars Fall featuring Shelly Poole was recorded in January and will assist in the album's US promo.
