Lee Bloomfield

A-Level Pathway Leader and Progress Tutor

Lee Bloomfield (BA(Hons), PGCE) has been a lecturer in Music Technology at Leeds College of Music since 2005. Lee’s teaching portfolio includes Music Production Techniques, Acoustics, Listening Skills and Sound for Moving Image. He is the Progress Tutor for Music Technology, and in this role he has the opportunity to work with learners of all abilities, and aims to raise learner achievement by supporting those with the course content and workload as necessary. Lee is also A-Level Pathway Leader, and has overarching responsibility for the AS and A2 provision in Music and Music Technology at the college.
Lee also has a portfolio of responsibilities with Pearson/BTEC nationally as a Team Leader of Standards Verifiers for QCF and NQF Music on Level 2 and 3 programmes. In this role, Lee helps to set the assessment standards across the UK schools and colleges running BTEC Music and Music Technology courses, and advises on good practice. Lee is also an examiner for A2 Music Technology and Pearson’s Team Leader of examiners for BTEC Level 2 Music.
Most recently, Lee has been working with the Qualification Development team at Pearson to write units for the new suite of qualifications in Music and Music Technology that will be taught in schools and colleges nationally from September 2016. Selected by Pearson to be one of the seven strong national writing team, this is further testament to the high level of skill and knowledge that our FE staff team bring into Leeds College of Music.
Lee also has an interest in noise induced hearing loss, and the effect this has on musicians. He has trained as a lay-counsellor with the British Tinnitus Association, and provides information workshops for Leeds College of Music students on the college's Tinnitus Awareness Day.
Musically, Lee plays bass and sings in country blues band The Wine Stoned Cowboys who are currently developing their live performance profile and have recently secured a support slot at the Beat-Herder Festival 2016 which is being headlined by Primal Scream.
