Ivo Neame

Principal lecturer in piano

Ivo Neame is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger. As a pianist, he has made notable contributions to some of the finest jazz groups based in the UK. With his own groups and as a sideman he has appeared at jazz festivals all over the world. Ivo's music is a living, breathing contradiction – complex yet accesible, considered yet spontaneous, traditional yet forward-thinking.

Ivo studied at the Royal Academy of Music, and since leaving in 2003 he has gone on to perform and record with highly esteemed musicians at home and abroad such as David Binney, Kenny Wheeler and Hermeto Pascoal. He has also played on more than 40 albums as a sideman and a leader.

Ivo's most recent album Yatra was released to universal critical acclaim. Jazzwise magazine said: 'a virtuosic artistry at play that lifts this album to heights that compare favourably with what Django Bates had achieved at an equivalent stage of his career. It's that good.'
