Ben Hennessy-Garside

Lecturer in Voice (Popular Music)

'Ben Hennessy-Garside [BA (Hons.)] is a multi-intrumentalist, composer and producer. Now specialising in voice, Ben's role at Leeds College of Music is as a coach on the Popular Music pathway, whilst also working with private clients in his home city of Lancaster in both one-to-one settings and delivering workshops to semi-professional / professional vocalists.

He began playing piano at the age of 12, before expanding through voice, drums, bass, guitar, composition and technology. He played in and wrote for a number of local bands before attending Leeds College of Music in 2003 as an undergraduate, studying for his BA in Music Production. During his time as a student at LCoM, Ben acted as the Leeds based Scout for Faith & Hope Records (Mint Royale, Subaqwa, National Forest), also working in music instrument retail and as a live sound engineer.
 
In 2008, Ben was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and has worked in music education ever since, delivering a wide range of units with topics including performance, composition, arrangement, theory, sound recording and the music industry, alongside working with private clients in one to one settings as a vocal coach and piano teacher.
 
Alongside his work in education, he is currently managing “Lancaster Music Meet”, a faciliative networking group for music workers in and around the Lancaster area and has recently begun recording with his newest band, The Never Nots.
