Leeds College of Music has a diverse student population, and welcomes applications from people with disabilities. We are committed to providing specific support for students with disabilities, and we strongly advise you to declare your disability or any additional support needs you may have.
The Student Disability Advisor offers a range of advice and support throughout the application process and for the duration of your course.
This includes assistance with applying for the Disabled Students Allowance (HE students only), information on the support available to FE students, advice on specialist equipment available, access to special arrangements for examinations and assessments, and individual support and guidance.
The College occupies modern purpose built premises, with lift access to all floors and wheelchair access to all facilities. A rest room is provided for the use of anyone who needs to take medication in private, take time out to rest or relax, or is taken ill.
The College has a Learning Support Centre that is available to all students. The support provided includes help with reading, writing, numeracy and literacy skills, time management and organisation, and support with researching and completing assignments. Free specialist diagnostic assessment for dyslexia is also available.
Potential applicants are encouraged to visit the College on our Open Days or by prior arrangement with the Student Disability Advisor to discuss their individual support needs in more detail. The Student Disability Advisor can also make special arrangements for any support you may need at audition and interview.
Copies of the College’s Disability Statement, which gives more detail on the support available, can be obtained from the Student Disability Advisor. All information is available in alternative formats on request.
