Professor Louise Gibbs

Professor Louise Gibbs is Senior Lecturer in Research & Postgraduate Studies (Jazz), with overall Course Leader responsibilities for Postgraduate Programmes in Music.

Lousie specialises in vocal performance; ensembles, musicology). Her research interests are in improvisation, jazz voice, and professional development.

Louise has set up the Acquiring Expertise and Judgement in Music Improvisation (AEJimi) to investigate how musicians become expert improvisers and how they make decisions about the coherence and quality of their creative output. Louise is a jazz vocalist, composer and arranger and has recorded with many significant jazz musicians.

Louise's CD, Everybody's Song But Our Own, features pianist Kirk Lightsey and was released on 33 Records in 2008.
