Malaysian piano virtuoso helps student prepare for Warsaw

Third-year Classical piano student talks to Malaysian pianist Mei Yi Foo after her masterclass in February 2014.

A visiting professor at Leeds College of MusicMei Yi Foo was named best newcomer at the BBC Music Magazine Awards in 2013. She has performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Chamber Orchestra, and has directed the Malaysian Philharmonic and Russian Virtuosi. Her debut album, Musical Toys, was released in 2013 to critical acclaim, with its exploration of contemporary repertoire.

Mei Yi came to Leeds College of Music for the day in February 2014 to deliver a masterclass, working one-to-one with classical piano students. Josh Kelly was preparing to perform at the International Chopin Music Festival in Warsaw later that month; the highest-profile engagement of his career so far.
