A film by Leeds College of Music tutor Stefan Gordon has been selected for the prestigious 11th Annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards that will run from 17 to 22 October 2007. The film, entitled It’s All Happening, is a dark comedy that deals with issues of alienation experienced by celebrities and ordinary citizens alike in a reality TV obsessed world. Stefan will be travelling to Hollywood for the screening of his film at the Arclight Cinema on 21 October, in a double bill with an animated feature by Kent Butterworth, director of The Simpsons.
Stefan Gordon, who teaches Song Writing and Production on the College’s BA (Hons) Music Production course and Film Theory on the FD Music Production for Film and Television, has been equally successful as a musician and a film director. He was a guitarist and co-songwriter in the indie pop group Brassy, noted for their hit song Play Some D used on the first ‘Hello Moto’ Motorola TV advert campaign in 2002 as well as providing songs for film and television soundtracks such as Evolution, Sugar and Spice, Kim Possible, The O.C. and more recently the latest TV campaign for restaurant chain TGI Fridays.
As a director and writer, Stefan has teamed up with independent producer James Youngs in a successful filmmaking partnership, Gordon Youngs. Formed in 2004, the partnership has already produced three short 35mm films including It’s All Happening, which was both written and directed by Stefan Gordon. Having completed its filming and production last year, both partners are now working on feature film scripts.
The Hollywood Film Festival was created to bridge the gap between the established Hollywood film industry and the global creative community while recognising excellence in the art of filmmaking. As well as receiving a VIP pass to all screenings during the festival, Stefan will be invited to attend the high profile Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
