Matt Rhea on postgraduate study

Our Postgraduate Studies and Research Centre has a strong history of pushing the boundaries of research, and supporting students to study and make the music they want to make.

Matt Rhea, a native Tennessean, is currently completing a MA in Performance at Leeds College of Music, exploring how he can make an instrument that is traditionally steeped in jazz, fit his love of pop and rock in an artful way.

Andy West, a musician who has also spent a number of years in the same US state, is Head of Postgraduate Studies here. We spoke to both Andy and Matt about what drove them both to pursue postgraduate study, and why the offering at Leeds College of Music is right for them.
