Iain Archer and Leo Wyatt

Writing 'Steeplejack' and talking about music

Acclaimed solo artist and songwriter Iain Archer has worked with a large number of acts, including Jake Bugg (with whom he received an Ivor Novello Nomination in 2013 for hit single 'Two Fingers'), Luke Sital-Singh, Snow Patrol and Nina Nesbitt amongst many others.

He has recently taken the post of Visiting Professor for the Postgraduate Studies and Research Centre at Leeds College of Music.
Last year, he sat down with student Leo Wyatt and together they wrote the song ‘Steeplejack’ – a song that has had a lasting impact on both of them. Here, they talk about the process of writing this song, and the advantages that postgraduate study lends to songwriting.
