Leeds College of Music alumnus Matthew Bourne, the improvisational pianist signed to the innovative Leaf Label, has landed in Xiamen to take part in the Musicians in Residence - China scheme supported by PRS for Music Foundation and British Council.

At this week's British Composer Awards the award for Contemporary Jazz Composition went to Leeds College of Music alumnus Tommy Evans for his composition The Green Seagull, the second year in a row this award has been won by a Leeds College of Music alumnus.

Trio VD, comprising postgraduate jazz alumnus Chris Sharkey and BA Jazz alumnus/staff member Chris Bussey, alongside Christophe de Bezenac, received a five star Guardian review for their new EP, X.

Music Production alumnus Rusko has produced the new single from Brit-nominated pop star Pixie Lott. The single, What Do You Tale Me For?, features the Kanye West-signed rapper Pusha T and is released on Monday 31 October.

Former student Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy will be making a well overdue appearance in Yorkshire on Sunday 31 July.

The Mercury Music Prize winner will be headlining the main stage this year’s The Magic Loungeabout Festival at Broughton Hall, Skipton. Acts across the weekend feature The Human League, New Young Pony Club, Fenech-Soler, Steve Mason and Ed Sheeran amongst many others.
