Northern Bloc Collective launches Piano Series at The Wardrobe
Tuesday 12 January 2010 sees the launch of an exciting collaboration between Leeds' Northern Bloc Collective and The Wardrobe, in the form of a piano series. The series brings four of the UK's most important and established jazz pianists to the city in three unique events.
John Law's Art of Sound Trio and Mark Donlon’s Trio will perform at the launch night on a full size grand piano, provided by Besbrode Pianos, in The Wardrobe’s basement club. John Law is critically acclaimed for his work both solo and with his Art of Sound Trio performing across the UK and Europe regularly. Mark Donlon, part of the F-ire Collective, is also renowned as one of the forefront pianists of the UK jazz movement.
The series presents the opportunity to see some of the best jazz musicians in the country performing on a grand piano, an incredibly rare opportunity, in the intimate setting of The Wardrobe.
The Northern Bloc Collective, who are hosting the night comprises of students from Leeds College of Music.

Future events in the piano series will see performances from Leeds-based virtuoso Matthew Bourne and Christophe de Bezenac (Tuesday 9 Febuary) and Kit Downes (Tuesday 9 March), formerly of Empirical and Troyka.
