Leeds music venue launches autumn season featuring College jazz students and alumni
Seven Artspace - a music and arts venue based in Chapel Allerton, Leeds - launches its Seven Jazz Sunday Afternoons from Sunday 12 September. The weekly jazz session features a number of alumni and students from the College.
Almost every gig between September and December at Seven Artspace has some link to the College. Highlights include student/alumni collective Yoruba; BA Jazz alumna Cherie Gears and her Quartet; We Free Kings featuring well known alumni names such as Jamil Sheriff and Jim Corry; Jamie Taylor's Java; and alumna/tutor Nikki Allan (pictured) performing alongside some of the most respected names on the Leeds jazz scene (including Leeds College of Music tutors Ronnie Bottomley, Graham Hearne and Joel Purnell).
The award-winning Leeds College of Music Big Band will perform on Sunday 5 December; this will be followed on the 12 December by third year BA Jazz student Kim Macari performing with her Quintet at the venue.
