Leeds College of Music alumni Take Five!
Two talented Leeds College of Music postgraduate alumni, Adam Fairhall and Olivia Moore have been accepted on to PRS' Jazz development scheme, Take Five.
Take Five, which is now in its sixth year, is a professional development scheme designed to give some of the UK’s most talented young jazz musicians the unique opportunity to take ‘time out’ to develop their skills. Take Five work with individual artists to help them discuss, explore and strengthen all aspects of their future careers.
Take Five, which is run in conjunction by The Jerwood Charitable Foundation and the PRS Foundation for New Music and supported by the Arts Council England and the Musicians Benevolent Fund, have chosen eight creative jazz musicians to take part in the project, of which two (Olivia and Adam) are former Leeds College of Music students.
To celebrate the launch of the project's sixth year, a free public event is being held during the London Jazz Festival week, at The Barbican Centre on Thursday 19 November. The event will feature former Take Five participants, who will discuss their experiences on and after Take Five.
Adam Fairhall, a jazz pianist from Cheshire, studied an MMus in Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music and Olivia Moore, a jazz violinist from Manchester, studied a Postgraduate Diploma in Jazz, Popular and Contemporary Music.
