We've added some new tracks to the audio player this week, highlighting some of the excellent collaborative work undertaken between our pop and production students/alumni.
Hail Animator - 'Simple Yet Wise (There Must Be One)' From the ‘We Live in Boxes’ EP Hail Animator is Richard Petch (vocals - BA Popular Music Studies/MA Composition graduate), Adam Martin (guitar - BA/MA Music Production graduate), Ste Anderson (drums - BA Popular Music Studies graduate) and Andrew Bradley (bass - BA Music Production graduate). The band released their debut EP, We Live in Boxes, on Friday 5 March 2010. The six-track EP, recorded at Leeds College of Music, has been in the making since the band’s formation a year ago. We Were All Made in China - 'Herd of Animals' We Were All Made in China comprises 2nd year students Luke Smith (BA Popular Music Studies), Jed Allcock (BA Music Production), George Riley (BA Popular Music Studies), Graeme Thomson (BA Music Production) and Chris Morton (BA Popular Music Studies). The band formed in early 2009 and has developed a strong following in and around Leeds, performing at venues including The Cockpit, Brudenell Social Club and The Wardrobe, as well as on the acclaimed Brit Bus Tour. www.myspace.com/wewereallmadeinchina Tokyo Lost - 'Need to Remember' Tokyo Lost features graduates Michael Denny (BA Music Production) and Tom Hunt (BA Popular Music Studies), alongside band member Simon Denny. The band has been writing and recording together over the past year and released a free online EP at the end of 2009. The EP was well received, with all three tracks gaining airplay on BBC Introducing. The band will release a series of free download singles throughout 2010, the first of which 'Need to Remember' is online now and it has again received airplay on BBC Introducing. www.myspace.com/tokyolost Zeno - 'Signs' from the forthcoming 'Transhuman' EP First year student band Zeno – vocalist/guitarist Sam Houghton, bassist Josh Hart, and drummer Tim Gosden - was named a semi-finalist in the recent Battle of Plumpton competition held in Leeds. The band is currently in the March edition of Sound on Sound magazine in the Mix Rescue feature and you can hear the results of their Mix Rescue on our audio player. ‘Signs’ is co-written by Sam and Josh, with Tim providing production duties. www.myspace.com/zenoband
