College alumni reach final of online advert competition

Leeds College of Music alumnus Rob Madin, with help from fellow alumnus Ste Anderson, is a finalist in Doritos' King of Ads competition. Doritos UK launched their own consumer generated advert contest, King of Ads, in early 2010. Anyone with a video camera and a good idea was invited to create and submit their Doritos ads in an online contest, held in partnership with Channel 4. From over 100 entries, Rob was one of 15 film makers invited to London to pitch their advert to an expert panel comprising Bafta winning actor/director/screen writer Noel Clarke, TV and radio presenter Lauren Laverne and acclaimed ad director David Shane. The panel decided on their three favourite adverts and the top three - including Rob's ad - will be put to the public vote to decide who the true ‘King of Ads’ is. The winning ad director has a chance to win £ 200,000 and see their advert screened on British TV channels in June and July. For his Doritos' video, Rob has created the character Charles Struggles in a spoof of the 'Josh's Band' T Mobile adverts from last year.
