College alumni gain places on Jazz Yorkshire Futures Scheme

Jazz Yorkshire was set up in 2003 with support from Arts Council England, Yorkshire with a mission to celebrate and develop the jazz scene in Yorkshire and the Humber. In an endeavour to encourage more jazz musicians to stay in the area, Jazz Yorkshire approached the College about a collaborative project to engage Leeds College of Music alumnus and other early career musicians in the region. The Scheme provide two years mentoring and career development for three jazz musicians in the region in the early part of their career. The three alumni awarded the Jazz Yorkshire Futures Scheme were announced at the start of November and they are: Mila Dores (BA Jazz 2006 - 2009), Russ Henderson ( BA Jazz 2006 - 2009) and Simon Kaylor (BA Jazz 1999 - 2002; PGDip Jazz Studies 2002 - 2004). The Knowledge Transfer Unit support this project through their enterprise events programme, providing relevant mentors and offering rehearsal and studio space.
