Leeds College of Music's Autumn/Winter Concert Season is a showcase for the College’s work as the UK’s contemporary conservatoire, with performances by flagship ensembles and former students sharing the bill with established artists. A highlight of the season is our jazz saxophone mini festival, with workshops and concerts by two of the world’s leading jazz saxophonists – legendary US tenor player Jerry Bergonzi and top home grown talent Peter King on alto sax. Another event not to be missed is The Kenny Wheeler 80th Birthday Big Band, with an amazing line-up including many of the UK’s top jazz musicians including Evan Parker and Julian Argüelles. This season continues the alumni strand featured in the spring, with former students appearing in the Jamil Sheriff Big Band, IDST and Colin Byrne’s Mingus Collective. There is also a female vocalist strand, with Diana Torto featuring in the Kenny Wheeler band and appearances by Claire Martin (pictured below) and Liane Carroll. With further concerts promoted by Leeds International Concert Season, Leeds Lieder + and SAA-uk, we hope there will be something for you here and we look forward to welcoming you to The Venue this autumn.
