Alan Barnes celebrates British Jazz at Scarborough Jazz Festival
College alumnus and fellow, Alan Barnes, will perform his newly commissioned collaboration with Andy Panayi, 'Jazz: The British Story', at this year's Scarborough Jazz Festival (18 - 20 September 2009).
Funded by the Arts Council, the newly comissioned work seeks to emphasise what British Jazz has achieved in the past 80 years.
'Jazz: The British Story', will include portraits of some of Britain's most illustrious musicians, including Tubby Hayes, Joe Harriott and Stan Tracey, plus a two-part tribute to Humphrey Lyttelton.
The works will be showcased as part of the three day Scarborough Jazz Festival and will be performed by Andy Panayi's 17-piece band.
As well as having his work showcased, Alan will be compering throughout the festival and performing in three bands over the three days.
