Can I begin study in January?

Must I start my course on the date specified?
Yes. If there are any personal circumstances that may delay your arrival, please contact the Course Enquiries Team on +44 (0) 113 222 3416.
Will my English be good enough?
If English is your second language, you must have a British Council English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 for FE or 6.0 for HE. These tests can be taken at British Council offices in many cities around the world. For more information see www.ielts.org
Do you have any well-known tutors?
All of our performance tutors are active in the music profession - a complete list of tutors can be found in the staff list. We also have a number of well known visiting professors, and a visiting artists workshop programme running throughout the year.
Do you offer joint degrees with dance or drama?
No, we provide specialist degree courses in music and music technology.
Do you have many overseas students?

Can I apply for a place, and then defer my entry for a year?
Yes, to discuss this please contact Course Enquiries on +44(0)113 222 3416.
Is it possible to be met at the airport?
Unfortunately Leeds College of Music is unable to provide a meet and greet service. Students will have to make their own way to the College. Details of how to do this are in the booklet entitled 'Essential information for International Students at Leeds College of Music' which is provided prior to Enrolment.
How do I pay the tuition fees?
You can pay the tuition fees in full at enrolment, by cheque, cash, Credit Card, Debit card or International Money Order. All transactions must be in sterling. Alternatively you can pay a substantial deposit at enrolment, and arrange a Standing Order from a UK bank account to pay the remaining fees in six instalments. Further details about fee payments are sent to all applicants who receive an offer. You will need a UK bank account.
Is there any help with living costs?
Unfortunately not. You will need to ensure that you have enough funds to support yourself entirely for the duration of your time in the UK, as International students have no recourse to public funds. Although in most cases, you would be allowed to take a part time job, you should not rely on this as a main source of income as there is no guarantee that you would be able to find a suitable job. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive information about costs etc before their arrival in the UK.
