English language tuition is available throughout your course in order to support your musical studies. This usually involves one scheduled session a week with our learning support tutor, covering both written and spoken English.

If English is your second language, you will be required to provide evidence of your language ability before you begin your studies.You must have a British Council International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 for FE or 6.0 for HE or equivalent as detailed below:

A copy of the IELTS certificate (or other recognised English test result) should be sent to Admissions along with copies of other qualifications already gained, although the original documents still need to be produced at enrolment.

For students not meeting the English language requirements for their chosen course, we can provide information about suitable summer courses in at a local language centre Leeds. Short or long term English language courses can be provided according to individual student requirements. Group applications can also be catered for if required.
