As the only specialist UK conservatoire to offer both Higher (Undergraduate and Postgraduate) and Further Education courses, Leeds College of Music provides a unique opportunity for students to progress from BTEC courses through to Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees. Currently over 1000 full-time and 1500 part-time students study at the College.
Leeds City College
On 1 August 2011, Leeds College of Music became a wholly owned subsidiary of Leeds City College, in a relationship which will offer a number of benefits to both colleges as well as students in the city. The alliance with Leeds City College will present Leeds College of Music with the benefits of shared resources and economies of scale and provide a secure financial future in today’s uncertain funding climate.
Leeds College of Music will be constituted as a Company Limited by Guarantee with charitable status, retaining its name, distinctive brand and purpose built premises in the city’s Quarry Hill arts quarter. It will continue to offer its unique mix of conservatoire-style provision in Classical Music, Jazz, Music Production and Popular Music across Higher Education, Further Education and community courses, which complements Leeds City College’s existing performance arts offer.
