Recording Studios

The College has a fully equipped suite of music and sound technology, recording and production facilities. The thirteen studios are designed to meet a variety of needs ranging from the live recording of bands and ensembles, multi-track recording, through to sound design, sampling, production of sound for moving image, digital editing and mastering. In addition, the College has three digital mobile recording units for use on and off site.

Recording Studio 1 'The Toft Studio'
A multi-track studio with a large performance space. The studio is equipped with a Toft Audio Design ATB 32 Channel mixer and Apple Macintosh Mac Pro/ProTools/Logic recording system.

Recording Studio 2
A multi-track digital studio with a medium-sized performance space. The studio is equipped with a Sony DMX R-100 digital mixing desk and an Apple Macintosh G5 ProTools/Logic recording system.

Recording Studio 3
A multi-track digital studio with a medium-sized performance space. The studio is equipped with a Sony DMX R-100 digital mixing desk and an Apple Macintosh G4 ProTools/Logic recording system.

Recording Studio 4
A multi-track digital studio with a small performance space. The studio is equipped with a Sony DMX R-100 digital mixing desk and an Apple Macintosh G4 ProTools/Logic recording system.

Mixing and Mastering Studio
A multi-track digital post-production studio equipped with a Sony DMX R-100 digital mixing desk and an Apple Macintosh G4 ProTools/Logic recording system.

Recording Studio 5
A multi-track recording studio with a medium-sized performance space. The studio control rooms are equipped with 16 channel analogue mixing desks and Apple G4 ProTools/Logic recording systems.

Digital Audio Editing Suite
A suite of 18 Apple Macintosh ProTools/Logic digital audio workstations designed for production work and equipped with commercial audio editing, sampling, synthesis and sound manipulation software.

TV and Film Post-Production Studio
A digital post-production and mastering studio for TV and film music equipped with an Apple Macintosh G5 ProTools/Logic digital editing and mastering system with specialist audio-visual hardware.

Electroacoustic Music Studio
Eight specialist PC-based digital audio workstations equipped with Cubase SX and ProTools software, with the addition of research-oriented software for sound manipulation and electroacoustic music composition.
