After four years of intensive training, Katie graduated in 2003 from the Royal Academy of Music with a BMus in Composition. She has since been working as professional composer, specialising in the fields of Film, TV and Rock and Pop string arranging.
Katie’s composing career began at just age 17 when she was chosen from hundreds to take part in a film music project led by composer Debbie Wiseman and Brian Gilbert and since then, as a ‘cellist, pianist, arranger and composer has had many successes. Katie has worked with established acts such as Marillion, and undertaken composing and performing projects for the BBC and C4 as well as a range of up and coming bands, solo artists and film makers. Her music has been played at the Royal Festival Hall, and she has performed at venues including the Barbican Centre, the Royal Albert Hall, the Bridgewater Hall and Guilfest.
Katie is currently writing and recording a range of library music for advertising in association with leading library music company Boosey and Hawkes. She also works for production company 'Be Nice to Gracie' on a range of composing projects for radio and film most recently radio documentary piece 'Movimiento Indigo'. Katie works with concert commissions and recently had work performed in concert by the 'Acapella singers'.
As an editor and writer, Katie has written articles for the SPNM (the Society for the Promotion of New Music), has contributed to up and coming new popular music magazine Spill and has written a new music publication for leading music publishers AC and Black The Musicians and Songwriters Yearbook’ which was published in July 2006.
