Jiannis Pavlidis teaches on the BA Jazz, ND Jazz, ND Popular Music and ICPA courses.  He teaches Principal studies and ensembles, including Guitar, BA Jazz ensembles, ND Jazz ensembles, ND Pop ensembles and ICPA ensembles. His teaching specialisms concentrate on the music of Thelonius Monk, Ornette Coleman and John Scofield for his BA Jazz ensembles.

Jiannis Pavlidis studied at Berklee College of Music, followed by a MMus at Leeds College of Music. He has been a professional musician since 1985, touring and playing at international festivals, sharing the bill with artists such as Tom Harell and Johnny Griffin. He has performed regularly in the Yorkshire region since 2002.

Career highlights have included working with Pete Wareham on a tour in England and a recording with David Liebman. Jiannis has recently toured with Adam Nussbaum in Greece.

His UK performances include Caedmon Hall, Gateshead, The Venue, The Wardrobe, Grassington Jazz festival, The Spinoff/Santiago and Oneeleven Club in Sheffield.  International appearances include Patras International Festival and Sani International festival, both Greece, Nis, Yugoslavia International festival and Thessaloniki Cultural Capital of Europe. He has also appeared on numerous Greek National/satellite TV broadcasts including the programme “The Greece of Jazz”.

Currently teaching at Leeds College of Music and Metropolitan University as well as playing all over England and Europe, participating in tours and performances as a leader , and also colaborating in tours,master classes and recordings (FOREVER LOST,2005) with David Liebman (September 2005,March 2010) and Adam Nussbaum (November 2007, January 2010)."
