Jez Pritchatt

BSc (Hons)

 

Jez Pritchatt is Course Leader for the Foundation Degree Programmes. He is also responsible for the Professional Studies Strand across all of the undergraduate curriculum. He currently teaches on modules in the music industry, business & professional development and  musicianship. His areas of musical specialism are glam, punk rock and ‘bubblegum’ pop.

Jez studied musical instrument making, before completing a BSc (Hons) in Music Technology. Before joining Leeds College of Music he held posts as a Music Technology & Popular Music lecturer in London & Doncaster.

Jez has been a guitarist and songwriter in various rock & pop bands since the 1970s. He has released various recordings by ‘Girls At Our Best!’ & ‘The Tall Boys’ and has performed extensively, including across Europe and the USA. Career highlights include a No.1 single in UK Indie chart with ‘Girls At Our Best!’ (Whose album was reissued for a third time in 2010), ‘The Tall Boys’ contributing to the soundtrack of George Romero's 'Return of The Living Dead', and ‘SaDoDAda!’ with Jonny Slut of ‘Atomizer’ (fans included Boy George). He was also the booking manager at the Marquee Club for several years.

As a composer, has written a musical, ‘Alice’, for Settle Youth Theatre and three of his compositions reached the finals and semi-finals of the 'UK National Songwriters Contest' in 2005/6. He continues to work on various musical projects including occasional performances across Europe with The Tall Boys.
