Craig Golding


BA (Hons), PGCE

Craig Golding is Course Leader for the BA Music Production course and teaches on both the Music Production and Popular Music degree programmes. His teaching specialism’s include Audio Recording, Sound recording techniques, Music Production and Song Production, and he teaches modules in Music Production and Ensemble Studies.

Craig Golding was originally appointed as Lecturer in Music Production/Popular Music in the College’s FE Department in 2003, moving to the HE Department in 2005 before taking up his current post in 2006. Before joining the College Craig worked as a professional FOH sound engineer at a number of theatres/venues and held the post of Music Technician within the creative arts faculty of an arts college.

Craig has also pursued an active freelance career in Sound Engineering and Production since 2000, including work as a FOH Engineer at many large venues including The Sage, Gateshead, The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. Craig has worked with a variety of artists and ensembles ranging from choirs, orchestras, singer songwriters/bands, Indian classical musicians and jazz ensembles, to organists and dance theatre companies. Craig is also a classically trained musician and still plays and performs with independent artist and fellow LCM staff member Danny Cope. Craig has recently signed a publishing contract with Focal Press with work due to be published in January 2010.

Publications

Craig has recently contributed a chapter to ‘Demo to Delivery’ Ed. Russ Hepworth-Sawyer (Focal Press). The book looks at the production process from conception to completion and includes chapters from many professionals and experts from within the industry.

Craig is also currently co-aurthoring a book due for publication by Focal Press in Jan 2010. ‘What is Music Production?’ aims to examine and discuss the various areas of the music production process and unravel the multifaceted role of today’s music producer.
