Charlotte Orba is Head of Undergraduate Studies (Popular & Music Production) leading the BA and Foundation degrees in this area. Her areas of interest include Popular Music Performance, The Music Industry and Popular Culture.
Charlotte studied Piano/Keyboards at Leeds College of Music, gaining a Graduate Diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Music and winning the Fox's Prize for Music Technology. She later studied for a MA in Popular Culture with the Open University.
Charlotte sustained a professional career as a freelance musician /musical director for over ten years before going on to combine this with teaching at Leeds College of Music. This work covered a wide variety of artists and genres but was primarily within pop music. She initially combined part time work at the College with her professional work but became a full time lecture in 1999.
Currently she combines her work at the College with freelance musical work as well as an active role as part owner of one of the UK's largest online music shops.
