Ally Jowett is a Songwriter, Performer, Engineer and Producer currently working and living Leeds.

Ally graduated in September 2007 from Leeds College of Music with a Masters Degree in Music Production, specialising in Composition.

Shortly after graduating, Ally was chosen as winner of Bright Young Things 2008, an annual competition for original music held in Leeds. Previous winners of the competition include Corinne Bailey Rae (Recording Artist) and Ashley Hicklin (EMI Songwriter and Recording Artist).

In February 2009, Ally wrote and produced his debut solo album “Rest of the Day”, a project co-engineered and mastered by Bruce Wood (Nightmares on Wax).  Two months after the albums release, he was signed to the London-based company Five-45 Artist Management.

It was at this point that Ally began working with Pop/Rock band New York Drama Club, who after playing a number of industry showcases in London, went on to gain the interest of high profile Record Producers such as Charlie Francis (REM and Turin Brakes) and John Parish (PJ Harvey) as well as some of London’s top Press and PR companies.

At the same time, Ally also began work as a freelance producer and engineer for a number of independent artists in Leeds, York and London.

In 2009, Ally engineered Vaughan King’s debut album “The Triumphant” to critical acclaim in Kerrang and Rocksound.

In 2010, he engineered David Lawrie’s debut live performance of “Liars, Charlatans & Jinxmongers at the Centre for Early Music in York.  The performance featured David’s 5-piece experimental band as well as a 15-piece choir from Leeds College of Music. The show won critical acclaim in both regional and national press.

Also in 2010, he was asked to engineer and produce an E.P by London-based indie band ‘The Decors’, a group who continue to play sell out shows across London’s most prestigious venues.

After nearly 3 years of working on a diverse collection of projects, Ally is now back focusing on his own music as a solo artist. His second album is due for release in Summer 2012.

At Leeds College of Music, Ally has taught on a part-time basis since completing his Masters Degree in 2007. He is currently the Musicianship Strand Leader for the Foundation Degree in Music Production; as well as lecturer and tutor for a number of Composition and Studio Production modules across the BA (Hons) Music Production and Popular Music Degrees.
