In a classroom and professional studio setting, this intensive weekend course will teach you the fundamentals of audio recording, including microphone types, microphone placement and digital audio theory.
Guidance will be given on preparing for, and recording with, a simple home recording system, as well as setting up and multi-track recording in a professional recording environment.
Participants should have a fundamental understanding of Mac OSX
Tutor Alex Halliday (BA, PGCert PA) is a Senior Lecturer in Music Production who teaches on the Foundation Degree and BA Music Degree (Production) at Leeds College of Music. His specialist areas are Computer Music Technology and Studio Recording. He is an Apple certified trainer who delivers the Apple Logic Pro X course both as part of the conservatoire’s curriculum and as a short course. Alex continues to write and produce his own music, as well as to compose, record and produce for performing arts organisations and the public services such as Opera North, Yorkshire Dance and West Yorkshire Police.
Alex will guide participants through the basics at an appropriate pace using lesson hand-outs and the expert knowledge that comes from 15 years’ of experience as an educator and producer.
