This weekend course will teach you the fundamentals of mixing and mastering a range of recorded audio as well as covering the associated creative processes involved. Your experienced tutor Marlon will provide you with innovative tips and tricks on how to make your mix sound polished and professional. Marlon will then show you how to then master the mix, allowing you the chance to complete your projects in a home studio.

This intensive weekend will cover:

  • Key mixing and mastering theory

  • Terminology

  • Types of dynamic processors

  • FX processing such as reverb chorus and delay

  • Dynamic processing such as compression, gating and limiting

This weekend course will utilise industry standard techniques, in combination with the application of analogue hardware and computer based music software (Logic X and Protools) using generic Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and third party plugins. Work with an expert and develop your creative mixing and mastering skills and learn how to turn your tracks into professional products here at Leeds College of Music.


Marlon Hodelin (BA Hons, PGCE, MMus) specialises in computer music technology, composing for film and TV, and Studio Recording and Production. Marlon, aka ‘Script’, has worked with many top producers and artists such as Sticky, Dexplicit, Leif, The Beat Masters, Virgo, DJ Veteran, Paul Jackson, and Marc Kinchern. He currently is working at the forefront of the industry, producing remixes for various existing artists and independent/major recording labels under the pseudonym Simplyscript, as well as working as a mixing and mastering engineer on various projects.
