1 Year Further Education Foundation Course
Students without the required GCSEs or musical attainment for admission to BTEC Level 3 National programmes are encouraged to apply for this course.
The Music Foundation Programme (Performance) is designed to help students to progress on to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music qualification or the workplace.
The course consists of two main qualifications.
From September to December learners will undertake a Foundation Learning course consisting of a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Performing Arts (where they will be given the opportunity to improve both their practical and theoretical skills through subjects such as: ensemble opportunities, music theory, aural training, musicianship, music industry), Personal and Social Development, and Functional Skills (in Maths, English and ICT).
Subject to satisfactory performance, students will progress on to a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music in January and continue on this until the end of the course in June, along with any relevant Functional Skills.
