Music Sequencing

(15 sessions, starting September and February)

Using Logic Pro 8 on a Mac platform, discover the basic principles of this industry standard music sequencing software.

Whether or not you have any musical experience, this course will teach you all
the basic features of this composition/ recording tool.

Entry requirements
Students must be computer literate
(PC or Mac)

Improver

Wednesday 7.00pm – 9.00pm

After successfully completing the beginners course (or if you already have competency) you can now develop your existing skills. Covering more advanced elements to take your recording/composition to the next step.


Studio Recording Techniques

For musicians, engineers and producers alike, this course is a comprehensive introduction to the world of analogue multi-tracking and sound recording. Be part of a fully equipped 15-week studio recording session, using a professional mixing console, outboard effects, dynamic processors and Logic 8, the industry standard digital multi-tracking software.

Improver
Thursday 7.00pm – 9.00pm

The Improver course provides further tuition in sound recording techniques, including digital mixing, automation, digital editing, plug-ins and fully parametric EQ. You will use the industry standard digital software, Pro-Tools, connected to a Digidesign HD interface. Students are encouraged to take a very creative, hands-on approach to digital studio recording and mastering techniques.


DJ Technology
(15 sessions, starting September and
February)

Beginner
Tuesday 6.30pm – 9.30pm

This course is an introduction to DJ
Technology.

You will discover mixing techniques across a broad range of styles and learn how to Beatmatch and Scratch using industry standard equipment. You will also explore digital DJ-ing, sampling and remixing using Ableton Live and Sound Forge and M-Audio Torq.

Improver
Thursday 6.30pm – 9.30pm

The Improver course provides further tuition in DJ Technology. You will have the opportunity to DJ with your own remixes, explore acappella mixing, 3 deck mixing, scratching and other creative DJ techniques. You will also develop an advanced knowledge of Ableton Live, learn how to rewire with Reason and use MIDI controllers..
